The Idea and the Founders.

All of the founders had previously worked in the extremely demanding restaurant business. Their goal was to create a restaurant that provided excellent food, substantial portions and first-rate service at reasonable costs while preserving a laid-back atmosphere where employees could actually enjoy their work. None of the founders had ever visited Australia despite the theme.

The Menu and the Bloomin’ Onion

Outback Steakhouse serves tasty and unique food. The most famous dish is the Bloomin’ Onion. It is a large fried onion that looks like a flower. Tim Gannon helps create this special dish. The restaurant also serves Aussie Cheese Fries and Kookaburra Wings. Many customers enjoy these popular menu items.

Growth & Corporate Evolution

Early 1990s:

The idea was wildly popular. Outback Steakhouse Inc. is the new name of the business. and went public in 1991 as a chain of 49 restaurants. Late 1990s: International expansion started when revenues surpassed $1 billion by 1997. Brand Expansion: The business expanded by developing or acquiring other restaurant concepts such as Bonefish Grill Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar and Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Bloomin Brands: OSI Restaurant Partners was eventually replaced by Bloomin Brands as the parent company’s name in the US.
